1. Sufi
2. Kahrijites
3. Wahhabis
4. Ismailis
5. Zaidis
6. Fatimids
7. Nizari
8. Alawis
9. Druze

8 and 9 are not considered "islam" by the Shi'a and Sunni. But, like I said, I am counting them because they claim to be.

Am not absolutely certain, but besides Shia and Sunni the other sects are Dawoodi Bohra, Agakhan & Deobandi sects. Would love to learn correctness of this.

I thought there were 3 sects only. Sunni, Shi'ite and Sufi. There are Ahmadi muslims in India and Pakistan but they are not considered to be muslims by Shias an Sunnis.

I am wondering why they are called sects whereas christians are called denominations. I am personally sufi. I know it is related to islam, not sure if it would be a sect.
