Bleepingcomputer has several tutorials, some for beginners and others for advance users. I recommend you read the Bleepingcomputer's article first. It explains registry keys in plain English and is written for people who don't have a lot of experience with Windows registry.

registry's are addresses within the hard disk lets say that guide the functions to know where data is ....as an example when you install something the OS you use organizes something like a map to know where the registry's (addresses ) are so the the next time you run that program to know where to go

If I were you,I would leave the registry alone. You can mess up your computer completely if you make even, one small mistake, in registry. There is not much you can do in there to make much difference to your computer by messing around in something as critical as your registry. Leave it alone--- if it's not broke,don't fix it!!!!!!!!!!
