...thinking about serving and needed to know if the coast guard does active combat duty? I'll only serve in the guard if I know that they are not in immoral roles such as other branches of the military.

The Coast Guard is currently providing Port security and Maritime Operational Security in various countries located along the Arabian Gulf such as Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE. Operations are also being conducted in Iraq. The Coast Guard provides port and riverine operations throughout the world. The Coast Guard plays an integral role in coastal warfare, and works closely with the US Navy in joint coastal warfare squadrons.

If you feel that any current operations by any branch of the military are "immoral", I would suggest not entering the military. Your opinion will create a lot of problems for you and could make interacting with other sailors, airmen, soldiers and marines problematic. The job of any military member is to carry out all lawful orders given, whether or not you agree with them. If you know going in that you do not agree with the spirit of the mission, why force yourself to make difficult moral decisions on a daily basis?
