I find that most people don't want to keep that little favor frame or silver bell. Think of the men who will receive a little silver spoon. They will most likely throw this away.
Your best bet is to go edible! And it is cost effective. Have your bakery (or you & your fiance can do this together) make something sweet. Cookies work really well. Use a family recipe. Place a stack of 2-3 cookies per guest in a little bag (not a sandwich baggy!) and tie w/ a ribbon. Have custom labels made (on your printer or at www.myownlabels.com) to place on the bag. Include a recipe card and explain that they were made w/ love. People love this!
Or you can do candy favors that relate to your wedding theme.

Good Luck!

I did Hershey's kisses and hugs wrapped in leftover fabric from my wedding dress (I made my dress). I cut the fabric in circles with pinking shears, put in 3 kisses and 3 hugs, tied it with a satin ribbon and attached a long skinny rectangle card where I wrote our names and the wedding date in calligraphy. You can get special M&Ms made up for the wedding. They even have a contest going on with a trip to the Bahamas.

i organize weddings and one of the best ones ive seen was little scrolls printed on really good quality paper (had a gold tint to it) and written on it was a thank you to the guests for coming and a note saying that instead of favours they had dontated money to cancer research for the guests as "we believe that the best possible gift is one that helps those in time of need"

Whatever you get don't get bookmarks. They just get thrown away anyway. I just had pastel dinner mints in little mesh bags I got at the dollar store tied up with curling ribbon that matched my colors. It was inexpensive and very cute.

naturally you'd want it themed to your wedding but, for my wedding i choose something i liked to collect myself. Shot glasses with our names and date. i collect them from places i go and then can be used. I even mailed them to people who couldn't come but sent cards( i put them with the thank you)
