I have a boy budgeriar, and he sits in a corner with his eyes shut and making a sound like he weeps... yesterday he was feeling ok, playing with me, he ate, but today he didn't want to do anything.
I am very afraid he could die, and I don't know what to do...
His feet are cold and white(not the normal pink they used to be), and he stays with the feathers tousy.
Pls don't tell me to go to the vet, because the only vet in my town killed another bird i had before Cipi (that's his name...). PLS answer quick... It might be just too late if you don't hurry

How did the vet killed my other budgie... well... he told me to give him some pills that proved to be too strong for small birds :( i found out too late about this... from a vet from another town.... unfortunately, the budgie... doesn't resist to a trip of 1 hour in the car, especially... when he's sick...

As much as you don't want to hear it, an AVIAN vet is what you need. But if that is 150% out of the question then put him in a cage, cover it and put a heating pad under it. Honestly, you can't do much without a vet. Sorry!

My budgie just died today. He couldn't hold on to his perch and his little feet got light in color too - we found out Tuesday (too late) that he had lead poisoning from knawing on an old picture frame (he was sneaking out of the cage he shared with my cockatiel while we were at work all day) I didn't notice it until I was spring cleaning a few weeks ago.......anyway, try using an eyedropper and force water AND milk - they need calcium too! The Avian vet said they need a lot of calcium.........If he gets better start feeding him pieces of fruit and mashed up hard boiled egg.....Good luck.

I am sry 4 your loss, I just lost one of mine too.. But please dont ever take your bird to a regular vet b\c they never have training on birds. You should have a avian vet so that when questions arise you have an expierenced and knowledgeable person that you can ask at any time of the day or night. Also consider a bird club in your area for support, joined one in my area, they helped me in knowledge and support when I lost one.

these birds are very good at hiding being sick, by the time they are sitting on the bottom of the cage, it's almost too late...a vet that takes care of budgies is good to have close at hand, but not always easy to do...I'm very sorry about your bird, they can be close pets.:(

Oh I am so sorry I wish I could help. I really don't know what to say. I am so sorry about that vet. You must live in a really small town.

watch his fluid intake, if he's not drinking at all you'll have to force feed/water him (eye dropper). this is VERY important.

thats pretty much it....don't just let him sit in his cage, hold him...if it is his last hours at least you can be with him.

Make him drink have an eye dropper of water every hour and as for food, take some sun flower seeds (de-shelled) crunch them up, add water and use the eye dropper to keep him eating.

i'm sorry for your ill bird :(

oh, i'm so sorry...
but how did the vet kill the bird?
was it because the bird was in pain?
was it accidental and couldn't be helped, or
did he just not try?
in the first two cases, it was not the vet's fault. and
he will improve in time, please, next time, trust him.
he hasn't studied for years for nothing.

I'm really sorry, I know how it feels to lose a bird. It happened to me before, just let it out, and remember him dearly. :(
