no - i saw something on 20/20 on it... and that is a myth.. it is not true... you can drive barefoot all you want :)

There are very few places that still have a law against driving barefoot and those that do seldom enforce it. Originally some places put these laws in effect because the old mechanical and later the standard hydraulic brakes required a significant amount of pedal pressure to stop the vehicle quickly. It was felt that a shod foot would apply that pressure better than a bare foot. Today's vehicle have much more sophisticated power and power assisted breaking systems which require much less pedal pressure to stop the vehicle.

I think here in Florida its unlawful. Mainly because of the sand from the Beaches and the sand making your feet slip on the pedals.

Yes it is illegal, at least in all the states I have been in. Just dont get caught
