When I go fishing for trout I use small spoons & spinners. Sometimes a spinner with a crawler at the end works good. If your going to just bait fish use a slip bobber, jig (green & yellow), and now for the bait you can use corn, night crawler, red worms (best), minnows, and crickets. Marshmellows I heard works good but i never tried it. Good luck!

iight...
This is a quote from a useful website that I found: " There are almost as many baits for Trout as there are fishermen..."
The site lists worms, such as night crawlers and redworms. Yellow corn (I'm not sure what other kinds of corn there are) works well too, as well as bread rolled up and cheese.
Remember to be patient!

Depends on what kind of fishing you are doing. Fly fishing I found woolly buggers and nymphs work best this early in the season. I've read that rooster tails work good for artificial lures.

probably worms, other baits such as marsmallows, cheese or corn work but usually on just hatchery fish ,not for wild trout.
