Hasn't anybody noticed that they are Commandments so we ought to follow them? But do you think they are still valid today? And why?

Think about what the word commandment and what it means. The root word is COMMAND meaning to be in charge of, to order someone to do something. To suggest is to consider as command is to instruction. God did not imply for you to follow the 10 commandments but he instructed you to.

. If you are a christain then you would know to follow them, but there are people that don't know about the 10 commandmets because of thier lack of knowledge. As a nation I would say no the 10 commandmets are not being obeyed, but they are valid because it's not against the law to to obey the ten commandments.

"And Moses said to the people "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin." Exodus 20: 20

They re commandments as Christians (and Jews I believe, sorry if I'm wrong!) are supposed to adhere to them. As to the validity part, here we go!

Do not murder - obviously valid today
Do not commit adultery - again still valid today
Do not steal - yet again valid today
Do not bear false witness against your neighbour - don't lie basically, still valid
Do not covet your neighbours house - jealousy has never been good and could lead to one of the above so, yes it is still valid!
Honour your father and your mother - blindingly obviously valid
Keep the Sabbath special - it is nice to have a day off regularly
The remaining 3 are improtant to the religions which abide by the commandments, do not swear falsely by the lord (don't take his name on vain or make false oaths in his name either!), ther is only one god (kind of fundamental in Judaism and Christianity!) and that we should belive in him.

To summarise ther are 3 which specifically apply to Jews and Christians and the remaining 7 should really be adhered to by everyone as most of them are law or the basis of society.

They are indeed valid!

They were commands given by god to moses for us to obey. By obeying the 10 commandents meant you did what god wanted they were not suggestions at the time. The commandments were set in the old testament and are not to be taken literally as they are written. Some are valid today and some are not. It depends how you look at it. The old testament is very cruel. Read it and you will see what i mean.

1. God being our Creator has the right as well as knowledge to tell us what to do.

2. The Commandments are not given for the benefit only of the person who keeps them. If someone keeps the 10 commandments, God is honoured and the whole community is a safer and happier place.

less than no circumstances can God's Ten Commandment regulation ever be amended or repealed. that's as everlasting as God Himself. 3 situations contained in the Bible, earthly kings (Herod, Ahasuerus, and Darius) made rules they later had to modify yet might want to not. If the rules of weak, vacillating kings were unchangeable, how might want to all and sundry imagine that the eternal regulation of God--written in stone with assistance from His finger--may be altered? look into this evaluation between God and His regulation. that's extra effortless for heaven and earth to bypass, than one tittle of the regulation to fail." Luke 16:17. "My covenant will I not smash, nor modify the component that's lengthy gone out of my lips." Psalms 89:34. "All his commandments are positive. They stand quickly endlessly." Psalms 111:7, 8. honestly not! The Bible is amazingly sparkling in this aspect. If the regulation may were replaced, God may have immediately made that fluctuate even as Adam and Eve sinned rather of sending His Son to die contained in the sinner's behalf to pay the penalty of the damaged regulation. yet this grow to be not achievable, because the commandments at the instantaneous are not rules contained in the sense of rules or rules that were enacted. they are printed concepts of God's holy personality which will consistently be authentic see you later as God exists. satisfied Sabbath:-D

Why do you think they are called "Commandments" because God expects each and every one of us to know and follow them. With the coming of Jesus into this world, He wrote these commandments into our hearts and they are meant to be known and practiced. They are Commandments...not mere suggestions. Your very soul depends on your keeping these commandments.

god actually wanted us to follow the 10 commandments not to think about them and either say yes or no. the We were meant to follow the 10 commandments but we went astray and followd our own rules like stray sheep. God gave us those rules but we did not follow.

Because that is what they are commandments/ orders from God, not something that you decide to do if you want to. And no, you do not go straight to Hell if you disobey they and repent( meaning do not do it again and ask for forgiveness). It is if you don't repent and break them knowing that it is wrong that you will be judged.

Yes, they are valid today, more than ever. Have you ever lied, stolen, taken gods name in vain? Most have. They are standards that no one can live up to, but are a good thing to try to follow.
