sin distances one from God...why would one voluntarily do that? Yet, we all do.

All these talk about sins - seriously, why bother? Just repent and you'll enter heaven on equal footing as the holiest priest.
Because Grace abounds is not license to sin the more. and by your selfish thinking you show what is in your heart, Darkness.
its not about what you can or can't do, nor is about running wild doing my own thing until i get caught or time runs out.
you are sadly mistaken if you think that a last minute repentance will get you equal reward in heaven with a Saint who has been faithful through life. ALL even saint will give an account of their words & deeds. and will receive the reward for those actions. so even if your last minute confession is true for Jesus weighs the heart, your reward will be little.
its better to be a Janitor in Heaven than a Prince of Hell if that is all you want.

God is against sin. You must be sincere when you repent. God knows when you are truly repenting of your sins and when you are not. He knows whats in your heart. That don't mean keep on doing the same sin and then repent over those same sins again and again. It doesn't work that way. When you repent that means that you are telling God that you will not do it again, although God is slow in anger he will put his wrath on you if you continue. So it's best to try to live a unsinful life. What you reap is what you sow. So be careful. You will not enter heaven on equal foot as the holiest priest because the rewards that you get in heaven is from what you do down here. You might recieve salvation, but that will not make you eqaul to the holiest preist because he might get a better reward then you because of the life he lived on Earth unless you live a holy life that deserves more rewards when you get to heaven.

Sin is "significant" because it is an offense against a holy God. Do you think it's significant to offend God? As for repentance, do you think you can fool God? Repentance isn't just pretending to be sorry but being truly sorry. God will only honor true repentance, in which case you will turn from your ways and not continue in your sins.

When a person truly repents, he would enter heaven as the holiest priest.
To repent is to be sorrowful for braking Gods laws, not just saying "I've sined, please forgive me".
If a person know that they are about to do something that is a sin, but they want to do it because they know they can just ask for forgiveness latter, they may ask, BUT they may not receive forgiveness. Why, because they are trying to use Gods law for their own lusts.
If a person know that they are about to do something that is a sin, and they pray to God to straighten them not to do it, or for Him to keep them from doing it, but because they are weak they still do it and sin, then they must repent and ask God to change them so they will not do it again.
God allows this to happen in people to different degrees to teach us to look to Him as our strenght (to resist and to change), to teach us to depend on Him for His forgiveness, and to teach us patience and meekness, for ourselves and to help us consider what other people might be suffering them selves.

All that believe in Christ and truly repent for their sins, do not purposely set out to sin again and again. That is simple manipulation of a situation. If your heart is true to your faith, it is that faith that keeps you on the right path. It can be measured comparatively to love, loving someone means you never want to do anything to hurt them, only wanting to do things that uplift them. So in a true relationship with God, straying off of His path for you is the last thing you want to do, and with each step in your faith walk, you walk towards God, not in another direction.

Repent means to turn away from your sin and ask for forgiveness. If you are repeating that sin, you have not repented.

In order to repent of your sins, you need to have a sincere sorrow for your sins and sincere desire to not commit this sin again. I wouldn't dare to assume forgiveness and mercy without those sincere sorrow and true repentenance being a part of it. Jesus knows all hearts.
