White vinegar. Drench it with the stuff, leave for five minutes then sponge up with hot water. Repeat for as long as it takes, eventually it shoulf lift, unless the stain has been there for a long time.

Honestly this works... pour boiling water over the red wine stain and it just disappears. I have off-white carpets and someone spilled a glass of wine on it. I tried this and with no effort, the stain came out.

Put salt on the carpet and let the salt absorbe the wine as much as possible. After 15-30 minutes, rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm water. It always does the trick :)

Soak the whole carpet with red wine and wash it :). No, seriously - try Vanish stain remover.

cover the stain in salt, a thick layer of ordinary kitchen salt, but do this immediately after you spilled.
Leave it there for a couple of hours, hoover it up and the remainder of the stain can be quite easily removed with just some eh... well, allesreiniger, whatever you call that in English. The stuff you put in your bucket-o-water when you go and clean the house, like Ajax or comet or something.

white wine, just pour it over the red wine stain, it will dilute it, and repeat the process. Just think of it, they are both wines it will dilute it. It really works I have tried it.

I'm not sure, but if you ever perfect the technique, let me know and I will supply the bottles and the marketing.
I have only ever heard of them getting red wine out of red grapes
