Heterotrophic organisms like us and other animals, like reptiles and mammals, can't make their own food;
Parasites, like tapeworm, cuscuta etc. take it from other 'host' organisms;
And saprophytes, like mushrooms, feed on dead and decaying organisms.
Only autotrophes can make their own food, i.e., only green plants and bacteria containing chlorophyll, called autotrophic bacteria.
