You could say you had a job interview there... just check out some adverts for Glasgow jobs, get the background details sorted in your head, and that's your cover, you don't actually have to apply. Alternatively, look up a show you'd like to see in Glasgow. You could actually get tickets! See the matinee, then see the person you need to meet.
Having said that, the best thing is just to tell the truth. If you need to see them, you shouldn't need too much cover, just go for it.

I had one of the best days of my life when i went on a pub crawl around Glasgow, what a city, but beware it's not for the faint hearted!

If you ain't got a reason, don't go... I went to Manchester and Doncaster on the pretence of visiting some friends... I did meet them, and had some other fun too... ;)
