Some people make a portfolio, selecting one outstanding or representative piece of work each week. You might do this for each subject or simply choose one from all subjects, rotating the subject week to week. They can be stored in a folder or expandable file, labled for each year.

I bought a plastic bin storage box with a lid and saved ALL papers, homework, projects of my 6 year old. I told myself I wasn't gonna save the same amount for 1st grade and on but I don't think I'll be able to but I don't want 13 storage boxes piled up in the future. I guess you could save artwork, reports and such. I know I'm still up in the air about that! Good luck!

Get an extra large pizza box. Go through the schoolwork with your kids and pick only what can fit in the box. Make sure to pick something from the beginning of the school year to the end so you can see the progression.

Hang on, I have to wade through a stack of papers I refuse to throw away before I can answer your question....

I have the same problem! I haven't done anything yet, but what I plan to do is get some small plastic storage boxes. That's as far as I've gotten in the plan. If you ever figure out how to decide what to keep and what to throw away, PLEEEEEASE let me know!

I haven't figured that out yet. We have two sheds......I have decided that I will fill one with all the "school" stuff......and then when she is gone away to college or wherever (UGH) I will go in the shed and read EVERY single poem, test, note, report card. Because I will be so incredibly lonely without her here.

Didn't help did it.....because my answer was REALLY overboard. LOL

Laminate the reports, frame the artwork and those that are worthy of keeping, but not the best, take a closeup of it and scrapbook it. Put together a collage of the letters and special pieces. Kids love to know that you keep their work and are proud of them. The more on display, the better they want to do in school for you to add more to their "Hall of Fame!"

Good luck

It only took me til the 3rd grade to figure that one out and what I did is at the beginning of the school year I bought pocket folders and labeled them according to my son's classes...Once a week I went thru the papers and filed them away...Not only did it keep them organized and handy in case we needed to study for a test, I didnt feel like I was drowning in paper and 2 days ago when school let out it was quick and easy to store them away with papers from years past

Ask a pizza place for a BIG box and go though with your kid the best ones and put them in the box, and then let your kid decorate the outside with stickers and markers! Have Fun!

Photocopy your favorite items or great test scores and then scrapbook the photocopy. This way you get to remember the things that really matter and have the child's handwriting to see how it has changed and it doesn't take up alot of room.
