this is an expensive sport, that's why so many upper class families are involved with it.
i kind of know what you are going through, though. when my brother was in high school he went to a crew match/meet (what ever it's called) and met a girl. a nice girl who he could tell had some money. we come from a very average home - middle class family, so my brother felt a bit strange when this girl asked him for his number; and she gave him hers. they talked on the phone a few times and had a date planned (she was going to be only 50 miles away so they could meet up together somewhere).
a week after the date he saw her on t.v., called her and told her he could not date her any more. she's a PRINCESS. my brother had no idea who she was at the time of meeting her or the date. only knew her by her first and middle name; she never told him her last name or where she was from. she said she liked him and wanted to be with someone 'normal' for a change. they haven't spoken since. he really liked her, too. what a shame.

Kids will not be kids. Where is the adult authority in all of this. How dare he/she (coach) lay the blame on your daughter or excuse the other kids' behavior.
It's ridiculous how money rules the world today. Not only would I look for another team, I would make sure that the coach's supervisor, (whether it be school, city, or private team/league) be alerted to his/her acceptance of the other children's behavior.
Good luck and please tell your daughter to keep her head up. At least there is ONE mature person on the team, and kudos to you for caring about her.

If she likes the sport, find another team. Find a team where your daughter gets on better with them.

Maybe you should do a little research and see if there is another team that does not have such an obscure standard or start your own team get local restaurants to sponsor you hold car washes and then one day go up against that team

Does she play the sport good? If so, tell her that maybe someday she will go further in the sport then her snooty peers and prove to them that it takes more than money to be good at something.
