The police action in Afghanistan is not over or forgotten.

Nato has now taken over much of the duties of the American forces, and the British 16th air assault brigade has just deployed to Helmand province to replace the U.S.

In Afganistan we are doing exactly what you are asking for in Iraq. We have helped stabilise the country (as much as that country will ever be stabilised) seen in a democratic government, helped to build a police force and army, and are now withdrwaing troops as quickly as possible and sensible in order to let the Afghans run their own affairs.

It is not covered by the so called liberal media like Iraq, but it is still going on and will for years. There is no end in sight for either "war." There have been just as many if not more failures in Afghanistan as there have been in Iraq it is just not reported as much.

first i am glad you left the military and yes i wish you were in California were you belong (i suggest San Fransisco)now for your question if Afghanistan has been forgotten then how could 2 soldiers die so it is not forgotten except by your left wing news service.and because soldiers die it is a result of war not mistakes

you have more or less answered your own question--- the less the americans are involved the better things are. the british have a good grasp of the people and the way to do things unlike the americans who are trigger happy arrogent in their capabilities, and of the people who they are supposed to help. i don't think they have been forgotton just a case the british are doing a good job quietly and with not to much opposision from the afghan people hopefuly it will last

It's impossible to forget when you live the life of a military spouse. Thank you for a question that was unoffensive and actually worth reading.
