The Bible makes perfect sense. But just as the Ethiopian Eunuch discovered, help is needed by way of Holy Spirit to understand it.There is nothing stupid about a book that has lasted through the centuries despite so many attempts to have it wiped out.No other publication has withstood this test.Nor has any other publication been compiled by some 40 different men and women from different time periods, different occupations and yet still harmonised without missing a beat. This miraculous book was compiled over some 1600 years.
It is filled with prophecies reflecting detailed knowledge of the future - something impossible for humans. And the reason for all of this is as 2 Tim 3:16 informs us-"All Scripture is inspired of God,and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness....."
There is one religion that understands Gods Holy Word and talks to others about our Creator and His purpose for the earth and mankind. And that is Jehovah's Witnesses. They would be only too happy to conduct a free home bible study with you,to help you gain accurate knowledge about our wonderful God,Jehovah.Just pop in to your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and ask.
Jehovah God has ensured that His Holy Word, our guidebook on survival be available to all and it is up to each one of us to search for God,while he can still be found....

Knowing God is not about following rules. That's the problem with a lot of mainstream religion. Do this, Don't do that. Simple minded people believe this is faith. Your best bet (if this hasn't caused you to give up on religion already).. is to find a non-denominational church that is based on the teachings of Christ and that interprets scripture according to common sense and reality, not dogma and ritual. Believe me, there are plenty of churches like this out there, many of them are hugely successful, gaining members in the thousands (such as Saddleback in California, Willow Creek in Illinois, or Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston). MMmmm.. maybe there's a reason they are so successful?
If you want clear rules to follow, you should check out Islam, that's a good place to become a brainwashed slave and live a life full of rules.
Good luck :)

The variety of answers listed here proves the point of our wrong approach for a "clear set of rules". If something claims to be God's word it should pass a test for it to be considered "divine".
We all judge many things in our lives to see if they stand up to the test of authenticity, whether it be a masterpiece painting, an ancient sculpture or a written piece of literary work. So why then do we drop our standards when it comes to the so-called word of God? For something that is a written that we attribute to God it should be very special, the likes of which can't be replicated.
So what are these tests? In my humble opinion if something is God's word it should contain truths that can come from no one except One that is all knowing. It should be constant, in that from its inception till the end of time it remains unchanged and uncorruptable to the single letter, for God would not want his very words to change year after year, decade after decade. The very structure and words should be a miracle in themselves, for God is a better writer than the most acclaimed poets. There should be information that would impress the highest scientific minds to the simplest common man (like myself). After one does all this research in search of the truth, and If the Book in question can pass all these tests, and can be appreciated by those that believe in it and those that don't , then and only then, can we say that this is God's words and these are his laws to follow.

THE FIVE COMMANDMENTS (THE PENTABARF)
The PENTABARF was discovered by the hermit Apostle Zarathud in the Fifth Year of The Caterpillar. He found them carved in gilded stone, while building a sun deck for his cave,
KNOW YE THIS O MAN OF FAITH!
I - There is no Goddess but Goddess and She is Your Goddess. There is no Erisian Movement but The Erisian Movement and it is The Erisian Movement. And every Golden Apple Corps is the beloved home of a Golden Worm.
II - A Discordian Shall Always use the Official Discordian Document Numbering System.
III - A Discordian is Required during his early Illumination to Go Off Alone & Partake Joyously of a Hot Dog on a Friday; this Devotive Ceremony to Remonstrate against the popular Paganisms of the Day: of Catholic Christendom (no meat on Friday), of Judaism (no meat of Pork), of Hindic Peoples (no meat of Beef), of Buddhists (no meat of animal), and of Discordians (no Hot Dog Buns).
IV - A Discordian shall Partake of No Hot Dog Buns, for Such was the Solace of Our Goddess when She was Confronted with The Original Snub.
V - A Discordian is Prohibited of Believing what he reads.
IT IS SO WRITTEN! SO BE IT. HAIL DISCORDIA! PROSECUTORS WILL BE TRANSGRESSICUTED.

OK here's a tip. If your heart and conscience tell you whether it's good or bad then that is clear enough for you. But the things that you are not certain about then do not do them until you are sure because if you do something not knowing 'for sure' if it is following the rules then it is technically not following the rules (erring on the side of justice). You might have to do some research outside of YA.

You should know better our mind and consciousness. You will find out that this is not possible. Our mind is set in a way that he sees, hear and believe what he want to believe.
Christ said not to kill but then the same church went out there to kill so many people, the set up all about inquisition, ....
Be careful That what some people did. Some might be very strait and good Christians.

Every time a prophesy is fulfilled from the bible, It is more proof that it is God's word ,and our book of rules to follow toward life after death. You have every right to be your own god if that is your wish. Personally I don't really care what happens to you when you finally die, You will perish(go back to the dirt) and never rise to live again! And that is fine with me, Nobody wants your kind in heaven.

he does, the ten commandments are some of the things he tells us to do and not to do also he says he wants you to love one another as he loves you ,the bible may sound the square root of stupidity to you but thats' only because you don't understand it . go to a bible study group and you will be hooked . read the new testament books and go on the journey with Christ to the cross where he died for you to atone for the sins he knew you would commit throughout your life ,read psalm 139 it tells you the story of life ok?

people do debate whether the 10 commandments are a clear set of rules to follow, but i think that he didnt give us a fixd set of rules coz that would leave nothing for man 2 discover and make life too rigid, monotonous and boring
