Only when he's with his woman (the only 1 he's consistently with) he's complete. There's no assurance for him if they just live together, what if she just takes off some day... then he'd be lost again, just as he was b4 they met.
It's a sad experience to witness a man matured in age to be in marriage, walking aimlessly, without a hint of smile on his pathetic face... he has no woman to go home to, no soft laughters to wash off his pain, no sunshine to wake up next to every morning...

A person without life partner is incomplete.

So he will know where the woman who is the mother of his children is, what kind of living partner she is and who to go to for comfort, food, sex and companionship. He wants a wife also to share his happiness, successes, good times and bad times with.
He wants someone he can depend on when he is young, handsome and well and when he is old, ugly and sick. He wants someone who will know him well and accept him for who he is.
