Misyar seems like a new practice among Muslims and espacially Salafi/Wahbi people. I need to know what benefits does it offer to women, or it is just for the benefit of men. Also is it a must for them to live in sparate houses or can they live togather, what are other conditions (limitations, permissions, reponsibilities and right of each other towards each other). Is it for second wife only or can any one find first wife under this provision.

Misyar is a kind of marriage. Unfortunately I do not have enough information. I will research and get back to you.
Thank you

Hi there .. I have been looking for online resources on this but unfortunately found none so far. All I have is articles in local newspapers.

Well, Mesyar is a halal, legal, certified kind of marriage where the couple agree that they do not live together and they are not asked to perform the daily duties of marraige (e.g. the husband supporting for the wife and the wife taking care of the house). They live at their parents, for example, and meet whenever they want to have an intimate relation or a social one, then back homes.

It is good when the husband is not well off to take the financial responsibilities of marriage and the wife has someone to support her (or supports herself). It protects them both from sinning.

Does this help?

Well, it is a deal that is in the interest of both the man and the woman. Some women like to live alone, not share a life with a husband and be responsible for kids and the house. Some of them are well off and do not need the financial support of the husband. However, they need fulfillment in a halal way, just as the male partner does. So it is mutually beneficial. One of the basics of this marriage is that there is no house for the couple. They either live each on his own, with family, with relative, friends, whatever, but not together. And it does not make a difference being the second or first wife. A woman can find the terms of this marriage appealing to her and go for it as a first wife. She could be a widow or divorced and has children of her own to take care of and don't want a spet father for them, but only needs an intimate relation every now and then. So, why not ...
