American tv shows frequently refer to 'making 2nd base' etc. Can someone tell me what the bases are in relation to fooling around please? I've always wondered....

I'm not American but think it is to do with Baseball? There are four bases on the pitch (a bit like Rounders) in a sort of diamond shape. The ball is bowled and the batter hits it and runs to the first base, if it is possible the batter will try to run around as many base as possible. If the batter makes it around all four (i.e. all the way!) then a 'Home Run' is scored. If you now apply this to fooling around or dating you can hopefully work it out!

By the way I don't know much about Baseball so hope that what I have said is correct, if not it is the general gist!

the bases are (i know its a bit coarse, but that's how it is):
french (as in kiss)
feel (as in the persons whole body)
finger (as in inserting a finger in a woman's vagina)
f*ck (as in intercourse)

as 1st, 2nd,3rd, and 4th base, respectively.
