The Low Wood near Ambleside is nice- has a lovely pool and the rooms overlook the lake. It is out of town so is fairly quiet. The restaurant has excellent food. We booked via their website and got a discount.

Why not try a cottage? There are plenty to choose from and in all price ranges. There are a lot of B&B's starting from around £20pppn. You can see the Lake District on a really tight budget and with the stunning surroundings you need never feel like it. Look into the places you want to see before booking anywhere as it is a vast area and travelling can take a lot of time, especially in the summer.

A camp-site, the Hotels etc are overpriced. Go to Southern Scotland, Gretna or Dumfries areas instead
