if it is in an indoor cat the life span is longer than outdoor cats. my grandma however had a outdoor barn cat that lived to be about 22 yrs. so it depends i guess on how well you take care of your cat.

It depends. If it is an outdoor cat, probably not long. Too manydangers and diseases out there. The average lifespan of cats is longer than that of dogs. With good veterinary care, an indoor lifestyle, cooperative genes and a pinch of luck, cats can live to 20 years or more. Aging, however, brings with it both physical and behavioral changes which, if ignored, may challenge even the most well-meaning of human companions.

Well I have an outside cat that is 15 years old and still alive and kickin'. She is a siamese that that has lived outside her whole live. She has always had that siamese attitude, but has mellowed out slightly in her old age. The dogs still know not to mess with her or she will mess them up! :)
I think 15 is probably about average, but it depends on how well they are taken care of. I suppose that indoor vs. outdoor can make a difference, but it doesn't seem to have a great effect on our cats.

I have owned MANY cats in my life. The youngest one to die was 12, the oldest 22. I'd say 15 is about average if they are indoor cats.
