Maybe because in france they have a lot of snails and one day they though "we might as well try how they taste". the french rekon that it 's tasteless. Personally i find it disgusting because of the slime and the fact that the snails are part of the insect world. It's like the Thai people eating roasted cockroaches or sumthing

People generally have different things they like to eat. If you ate snails from when you were little, you would think that it would be natural to eat snails instead of thinking it would be disgusting!
Asians eat all kinds of things. From snails, to dogs, to snakes.
I personally am asian but I do NOT like to eat dogs!! Eating dogs is EVIL D:

It is not just French People. My mother eats snails all the time and she does not have an ounce of french in her. They are actully very good. I have had them also.

The Romans used to do it too, and my ex used to stew giant African land snails with chilli as well as garlic. Beautiful. Of the European versions, I prefer the Italian version I tried to any of those eaten in France. Why is this disgusting?

I love eating snails! It's really nice. I know it sounds corny but it does taste a bit like chicken... and mushrooms mixed.. I love it! (and I'm not French)

They do in Crete as well. I find it disgusting too. They say that after cooking, they're ok. Thing is I like snails - they are interesting species - and I could never eat something I like! (eg duck, lamb, rabbit...)

All different cultures eat things that others might find disgusting. Think about what an egg is and where milk comes from before you judge others.

It keeps them out of the garden. Why do people eat oysters with few complaints. But why do more people question the Chinese eating cats? Does being an invertebrate make it more acceptable?

They aren't my cup of tea but I have tried them a few times, you shouldn't knock something til you have tasted it, and it's a traditional French thing, how can generations of French people be wrong?
