yea what marjo said im no monk but i read books on one monk in particular a special one at that but then theres some monks that just do it for a feed and a roof over there head well back in the 1930s they did anyhow ha probly still the same nowadays probly even got worse ha but im interesting into what its like in tibet etc these days and see how its progressed as they dedicated themselves alot to spirituality and they recited these laws every morning when they would wake up i think the world would be a better place if everyone obeyed these rules too.
1.Pay Honor to the parents & elderly
2.Respect the Virtuous ( moral goodness,merit and power) 3.Help one's country
4.Be honest and truthful in all things
5.Pay heed(take notice of care for) to all relatives and friends. 6.Make the ebst use of food and wealth.
7.Follow example of those who are good
8.Show grattitude and return kindness
9.Give fair measure in all things
10.Be free from jeoulosy and envy
11.Refrain from scandal
12.Be gentle in speech and in action and harm none
13.Bear suffering and distress with patience and be humble.

I think people choose to become a monk because they want to devote their life to religion and spirituality...because they feel thats their calling...
