I don't know about all Pentecostal denominations b/c I know some do see it as a "requirement" for women so this is my OWN take on it. I dress this way. I love dressing this way. I wasn't raised this way or had a denomination teach it for me. It was a "calling" i felt from God. a personal choice. My husband and I pastor a church and believe your salvation is between you and God. We aren't judges. Do I feel it is right? For me I do, for you not necessarily. I think it is perfectly fine and great for a person to dress this way, but it is okay if you don't too. Just like other things, some feel it is for them, others do not. I personally haven't had the desire or whatever to go on 40 day fasts (for example) However, I don't doubt those who do do it b/c they feel they are lead by God. Also the bible teaches so much is given, much is required. I feel I need to do this to achieve the highest will in my life and eternal life. Yours may be different. I suggest if you or anyone feels conflicted or torn on what to do, then pray about it and see what you feel the LORD wants you to do and make the decision. On judgement day it is between you and the LORD anyway. Good luck.. Oh, also, in some Pentecostal denominations, men cannot wear short sleeves or have facial hair, so there isn't a double standard as far as that goes. God bless, I hope you find the answer you need.

No one "has" to do anything in the Pentecostal church. It's a personal thing between the woman and God. The lack of makeup, jewelry and wearing skirts is about vanity and not placing too much value on the outward appearance. But again, that is a personal choice. I attend a Pentecostal church and we have members who don't wear pants, makeup or cut their hair and we have some who do. We do have a dress code for church, but not everyone follows that; again, it's between you and God.

I grew up in a pentecostal church where these rules where in place to show that we were different from the "world" also of these rules where passed down from generation to generation until it was a said thing. now its not like that (well for some churches) you can wear whatever you want. Everything can be done in moderation after all its about respecting yourself and everyone around you

also its not just "pentecostal" churches that follow that way of thinking.

Actually, not all pentecostal women have to. I am Pentecostal and I wear jeans, shorts, skirts, makeup, jewelry, and have my hair chopped off. It's the conservative Pentecostals that believe that way.

Not all pentecostal women are like that. But the ones that do are showing a modest appearl. It not stupid nor dumb, its their preference. What ever it takes for that person to be one on one with God, thats their business. Whether its the way they dress, sing, talk, walk, whatever. We need to be a lot more open to other people beliefs and stop being so sarcastic about their ways. If it doesn't harm you or anyone else, than we shouldn't have anything negative to say about it. I am so glad that God is my Judge and he is not human.

I can only say that in the bible its say woman hair is her glory or crown of glory, and a woman is suppose to keep a woman appearance(I guess that where the dress come in) I guess make up is being false, wishing and desiring to look a different way then God make you....
