if you were caught, you could be in violation of the lease agreement and it could lead to eviction. So yes you need to tell your landlord

If you don't report it and the landlord/manager finds out about it, you may be evicted and still have to pay the fees you tried to avoid. Plus if the cat causes any damages you will be liable for all of the damages as well as rent and pet deposit.

I think you should let your landlord know of the cat. If they find out about it later they can evict you for breaking something in the lease. That would not be good.
Most apartment buildings have yearly inspections. What do you plan to do with your cats when those inspections happen?
I think it's more difficult to hide the cats than it is just to tell the landlord you have them. Then you never have to worry about being evicted for something like that.

Just don't say anything. Most people where i live break the pet rules..our landlord turns the other way. I guess she feels, like it's not really her business anyway...although we still pay a 20 a month fee.
We have quarterly inspections, and it is never a problem.
Seems to me..sometimes things look "scary and forceful" on paper..then they are in "real terms".
Our landlord doesn't come into our bedroom either..as i said, my bedroom..is MY business while i continue to pay rent.

You could end up paying more than you like. Just let them know that you have a cat and see what they say. You knew that you would have to pay so you should of saved some money up. Please dont get caught before you say something. Good Luck

If you have a slum lord, then chances are he/she isn't going to be anywhere near your apt. cause he's too lazy to get off his ...... Then I would just keep it on the hush hush...
If he/she is a good landlord, then I would tell her, and pay the deposit, you get it back anyway unless your cat destroys the place.

They always seem to find out. If you can pay the extra, it will eliminate any problems (except financial ones!)

If you avoid the deposit you can be liable for much, much more, including "breaking" any rental agreement and being evicted.

it is illegal to charge extra (deposit or rent) for pets here
you should look into the laws where you are
maybe you do not have to pay those fees
