Royal Flush
A Royal Flush is the best hand in Poker and the odds of receiving one are 650,000 to 1. All the same suit, a Royal Flush comprises of Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.
Straight Flush
Pokers second strongest hand, five cards, all consecutive and all the same suit. The higher the numerical value of cards the better the hand. You have a 1 in 72,000 chance of catching a Straight Flush.
Four-of-a-kind
Made of four cards of the same value. As Four Eights beats four Threes, then the higher your four cards the better. The odds of catching it are around 4,200-1.
Full House
This is a combination of a pair and a three-of-a-kind e.g. a pair of 10’s and three Queens. If two players both make full house, then the one containing the higher ranking three-of-a-kind wins. Catching a Full House is a 700-1 chance.
Flush
Five, non sequential cards that all share the same suit e.g. five hearts, five spades. Up against a player with another the Flush, the player with the highest card contained within the Flush hand wins. 1 in 510 chance of making this hand.
Straight
Five differently suited cards that run in sequential rank order e.g. 2,3,4,5,6. An Ace may be used either high or low for A,2,3,4,5 or 10, J, Q, K, A. The higher the top value card of the Straight, the stronger your hand becomes. You might see one once in 250 hands.
Three-of-a-kind
Also called ‘trips’ or a set, this is when you have three cards of the same rank e.g. three Kings. 1 in 48 chance of getting this hand.
Two Pair
Similar to the pair but double, For example two Queens and two 9’s. You can should be able to make two pair once every 21 hands.
Pair
A single pair is often enough to win a pot, The hand is a pair of same face value like JJ with the highest pair being AA. You'll get a pair about once in every 2.4 hands.
High Card
If you can't make anything! then you have the 'High Card' you could win with this in a heads up situations - but don't go throwing money at it any other time! The highest ranked card is an Ace down through to 2.
