Great Blackout At 5:27 p.m., November 9, 1965, the entire Northeast area of the United States and large parts of Canada went dark.

on November 9, 1965. Electrical power failed at 5:16 p.m. and was not restored for five hours. Affected by the 1965 blackout were New York state, parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, most of the six states of New England, and Ontario.
