My GF is going to japan for a yr i only dated for 2months. should we just give up now & start again or try & last the yr?? she has douts we cant make it due to comuncation difficulties but i like her too much. any advice or experence on long distance relationships it would be most helpful thanx.

from mine and friends' past and present experiences, it is best to break up now. i am struggling right now with a friend who is in japan, but she is still hanging onto a guy here in the states. for a couple weeks he tried to stay with her, but now he is moving on. but she is hurting because she still think it could work.
the truth is that it takes a lot of maturity and the relationship must have a strong foundation to last. if you've only been dating two months, the fact is that the relationship probably doesn't have that strong foundation yet. for example, you will want to hear from each other every day. when you start only hearing from each other every other week or longer (guaranteed to happen), you will question the relationship. pain ensues.
i think it's best to break up now and find someone else. in a year, if you're both still single (not because you're waiting for her) then maybe you can see if there are still feelings there. But people change a lot in one year, especially when they go through a radical change, such as adjusting to a new culture. she may be a very different person when she returns.

Long distance relationships rarely work, only in cases with very strong love, whereas you say you only like this girl. In my opinion you should break it off and look for new girls.

Mr.Alan , Itt sounds as if you have a lot of feelings for her . It is sad that she is leaving . I would continue to enjoy each other while she is here. Love is out there and you will find it again.

No matter whether you both say you will(not) stick together you both are going to do what you want and "who" you want because Japan is far away. But when she comes back you can shut your eyes and be together again...
