If you are talking about boxing, then the answer would be Floyd Patterson. He won Olympic Gold as a middleweight, and was the youngest man to win the world heavyweight title. Later, he was the first man to regain the heavyweight title after losing it. Ali came later. Patterson was born in 1935, fought mostly through the fifties and early sixties, died recently.
