I'm not trying to sound racist or anything, but I've noticed that all the mexicans I know talk fast in spanish and english. Why?

I am a gringo and I think Mexicans actually talk pretty slow compared to other Latin people. For example, I can't understand Puerto Ricans or Cubans alot of times because all their words seem to blend into one. It's worse when they are angry!

My father is from South America and i grew up listening to him speak Spanish. I grew up in the Midwest so i really never heard it spoken any other way. About 10 yrs ago i moved to a largely Mexican community and i found what you're saying to be true.
However, i noticed that people from the interior of Mexico speak much more clearly than those who live in the "Frontera" which is the part of Mexico closest to the US border.
Mexican-Americans and Mexicans from the Frontera use a lot of english words that they modify into Spanish.
Also, think of how Americans from the South speak. Even if your native language is English it's often hard to understand what they're saying, don't you think? It's the same for Mexicans in reverse, their northern region is like our southern region.

Maybe because we think fast, and express easyly our thought.
But politician speak fast and use fancy words so people won't undestand really what they talking about.
We don't usually use Uhm, Uhm like americans do, because we talk what we want to say, unless we try to lie then we slow down.
