A Research has shown that caffeine does not cause symptoms of anxiety in the general population. Only in diagnosed panic or anxiety disorder patients may the stimulant effects of caffeine exacerbate already present symptoms.

caffeine is a stimulant - not only does it cause anxiety - it makes you have to "pee" a lot more often than people who don't drink it. It's really bad to drink caffeine when it's hot out - you can get dehydrated. Drink lots of water before and after your caffeine if you can't quit.

Caffeine acts on the brain by bloking the action of a chemical called adenosine. Adensosine is present in high amounts in the brain, and it has a calming effect on neurons, reducing their excitability. When caffeine, or another drug in the xanthine family, is ingested, it blocks the receptor for adenosine, and prevents adenosine from performing its calming action. Feelings of restlessness and anxiety are a result of caffeine blocking receptors in the centers that regulate modd and wakefulness.
