no si it is a sort of syndrome makes you think of sex all the time and you can do nothing to rectify it.

I think it depends on you and your beliefs. For some, it is a sin (for many reasons), for others it is not a big deal. It can be healthy for your sex life to add some "spice" to an existing relationship, to discover what you like or don't, or if you are inexperienced you might learn a few things. However, like one person posted it should not replace a sex life. Some say pornography is addictive and can lead to diviant behavior. Others say its only okay with a partner/spouse. Others say go for it anytime. So basically, masterbation is normal. But it is up to you to decide if pornography and or masterbation is okay, for you.
If you do these things remember these Ps:
Place/privacy: There are appropriate places for such things, like the privacy of your home not in public. (remember Pee Wee herman's episode?)
Partner: Be respectful of your partner, if you have one.
Pleasure: It should be an act of pleasure for you (and your partner), not guilt ridden, or shamefull, nor forced on your partner.
Part: it should only part of a sex life. There needs to be balance.

it usually sparks interest in the adolescent years because of the raging hormones. Then, it can just escalate to a part of that person's personal life weather they do it regularly or every now and then...
personally, i don't think that there's anything wrong with it as long as the person does it with their own alone time and doesn't bring it out into the world everywhere they go so that it becomes harmful to relationships etc.
