It is preferable that there is as much hair as possible. But word on the street is that baldness in men over 40 is rampant nowadays.

If you are going bald, then it is preferable that the hair is cut short closer to the scalp. This makes the baldness less obvious.

You probably don't have much of a choice without medical intervention anyways, and you probably don't really need to go that route either. Just shave the rest of it off, and go bare!
