10:10 looks like a smile. The advertisements want people to have positive thoughts about their products and clock and watch advertisers plant that subliminal "happy product" message when you look at the face of the timepiece.

The watch appears to be smiling, the makers' name is clearly visible, the 3'o clock day/date portion is visible, it just looks neater than the alternatives.
