i used to cut and feel better too...
but, alcoholics drink and feel better...
so it is bad because it's unhealthy and you're not actually solving anything by doing it.
you know what i mean?
as far as being a sin i wouldn't know. but, i can tell you for sure that once you respect yourself and your body enough not to harm it. you'll feel much better than you ever did cutting.

I'm not an expert in "cutting" and in fact only found out that some people did this about five years ago. My opinion is that by cutting yourself it means something is deeply troubling you and this is a form of frustrated expression. But not a very healthy one. If life's troubles can lead to self-destructive behaviors like this, even though it may feel better at the time, then it's time to really consider some talk-therapy, or counseling. I have a mental health problem and I'm not trying to say anything like go do this or go do that, because I'm not an expert. But I also know a hell of a lot about what real personal pain can do to me and the lengths of bad behavior will take me to, even though at the time they felt all right to do. So please consider that you are a good person, but have a real hard time dealing with your personal pain and cutting isn't good in the long run.
As for it being a sin, I doubt God would judge you as sinning when you do this because obviously you are in a great deal of pain when you do it and not thinking clearly. And God is merciful and does not put this as a sin on your soul, honey. He just wants you to know that it isn't good for you and to get help so you can be a happy person again. To find emotional healing is a beautiful experience, but you must do it for yourself; no one can do it for you. I give you a lot of credit for having the guts to post this complex question in an open forum and think it might just be your first real step towards addressing your problem in a realistic way. Good luck, my friend.

I wouldn't call it a sin but please stop it anyway. I know that it makes you feel better - I went through this myself when I was about 13 and I thought this was the only way to deal with problems because the pain made me forget about them for a while. But this is absolutely no solution and if you can't stop doing it without help then tell someone you trust about this!! There are better ways to deal with sadness or depression than cutting yourself, find out which one works for you. I know this isn't easy at first but believe me, after some time you'll feel much better without doing this to yourself and you'll regret you've ever done it.

As far as cutting being a sin, I think I'd have to agree that it is. In essence, you are destroying the creation that God gave you as a place for your spirit to live. Remember, cutting is only a means to forget about the real problem(s). Please try to talk to a friend, family member, professional and find out what is causing this behavior so you can get past it.

I'm sorry, but yes cutting is a sin, a long with tattoos. Anything that is 'marking of the flesh' or some crap. i know b/c i cut too, i got a tongue ring, and i'm planning on a tattoo, so if or when God punishes us (if u believe in that sorta thing) i will be at fault.

I actually relate to what you say about cutting your self I did it couple of times and I know that sometimes it feels like it is the only way to get your anger, frustation, and pain out ( I just wanted you to know you're not alone and I understand).

Cutting isn't healthy, whether or not you clean it out. You should find another way to release emotions that you're feeling. If you're not sure how to do that, you should talk to someone about it or seek professional help.
