Why can't they just sell anti depressants over the counter?

What is the whole point of having to keep going to see a psychiatrist to see how your doing all the time? What is the whole point of going all the way to the office every week just to answer the question of how are you doing on them? Just sell them over the counter so people just get them whenever they want

anti-depressents do not soilve depression they suspend it. the psych is tryin to get u to talk. talkin feelings lettin emotions out cures depression.

IF you could just get them over the counter then people would be taking advantage of them and there be a million over dose's not a good idea, I see your point though about driving all the way to the doc's office just to tell them how your feeling, but when your down and you talk about things bothering you it really does help, read the bible and pray and talk to God that's the best medicine, he can cure anything and everything, I mean it, I'm not gonna go all religious on you, but try going to church one Sunday and pray a little every night and see if things don't change...anyway...God bless

Because for one if u need the meds in the first place u need to be seeing someone. Secondly people would abuse them and they are worth alot of money on the streets. And if u are seeing a psychiatrist that only asks u how u are doing on the meds u need to get a new one.

They need to keep track of you somehow. Some people need to know how you are doing even if it's annoying to you.

if they did that, then people would buy them to get high, and people whose problems aren't getting fixed or whose prescription should change wouldn't get help.
