Babylon the Great reefers to ALL false religion, whether they claim to be Christan or not.
Its the world empire of false religion just as ancient Babylon was the centre of false religion, many of its ideas still existing in our day such as immortal soul, hell, trinity

Babylon the great is a corrupted religious system.
Most of the pagan traditions originated in Babylon, and have been introduced into the church. The introduction of paganism was not God's intention, but it was done by corrupt priests.
The Bible says that Babylon the Great is the mother of harlots. Since it represents a corrupted religious system, the harlots are churches that have strayed from the truth. Not to point fingers, but the Roman Catholic church claims to be the mother church, and that the protestant churches have strayed from her.
It is urgent to get out of Babylon, so that you do not accept the pagan traditions as the gospel of Jesus. If that happens, you will "believe a lie".
2Th 2:10-12
(10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
(11) And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
(12) That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
There is no truth in Babylon, and the longer a person stays there, the less likely they will escape. God's word is the only source of truth. If your church places a higher value on tradition than on the word of God, then you had better ask yourself if you might be in Babylon.
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them. (Isa 8:20)
If it isn't the whole truth, or even if there is a LITTLE error, it is a spiritual lie. Everything (of a religious nature) should be easily supported by the Bible.

It is not the Babylon located in Iraq. During Desert Storm so many books came out saying that Babylon was the answer – this was it and I said absolutely not because I believe the Babylon of Isaiah 18, Jeremiah 50 and 51, Revelation 18 happen to depict the United States of America and you wouldn't understand that now unless you studied my video on this subject thoroughly. Listen to me, first of all, it is the last of the super powers to come into existence in Jeremiah 50:12. That was 1776. We are some of the latest in history. Baghdad and Iraq has been here for centuries. Secondly, it is a nation of tremendous wealth in Jeremiah 51:7 and that wealth is lost in Revelation 18:10, 17, and 19. Thirdly, it is a nation that has a tremendous amount of missiles and atomic weaponry so that it can shoot into the heavens and use her missiles globally and that is Jeremiah 51:53 and 58. But here is some of the most exhilarating evidence ever Isaiah 18:1. “Woe unto the land shattering with wings which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia.” The symbol of the United States of America is a great eagle with outspread wings. But, John Allen Watson a great geographer sent page after page documenting this and he took the rivers of Ethiopia going southward and found 14 of them and a ocean to be crossed that came out in Oregon and continuing south ward went through Canada and back to Israel and Ethiopia. He proved to me that it was the United States of America.

The book of Revelation is a prophetic book so we have to use prophetic symbols given by God.
There are 2 women talked about in Revelation, Babylon and the woman dressed in white.
What does a woman symbolize Bible prophecy?
"I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman." Jeremiah 6:2
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25
One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." Revelation 21:9
I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 2Corinthians 11:2
The book of Hosea
From these we see that a woman in prophecy represents a church
So there are 2 women in Revelation and they both represent a church, which churches do they represent?
Obviously since the dragon (Satan) hates the women clothed in light she must be God's Church. And the Revelation 17:4 says that she has a "cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:" She obviously must be against God
Like you said James 4:4 she has commingled Christianity with paganism.
Ok so what Church system is Revelation 17 talking about?
"This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits." Revelation 17:9
"The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth." Revelation 17:18
What city ruled the world during the time the Apostle John wrote the book of Revelation?
Rome.
Is Rome based on 7 hills?
Yes, they are Palatine Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline, Caelin, and Aventine.
Is there any more evidence that this church is the roman church?
1) Persecution of the saints
"And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus." Revelation 17:6
During the Dark Ages the Church used the Inquisition to kill over 50 million people
Pope John Paul openly acknowledged that fact.
2) She has harlot daughters
Basically every Protestant Church has come out of the Church of Rome and many still retain some of the false teachings of the Catholic Church.
3) She is dressed in Purple and scarlet
Look at the colors of the Catholic Church those colors are always seen
From the Bible is it clear who Babylon is?
The Bible is *NOT* talking specifically about people, it is talking about an organization that is not Biblical
This is only scratching the surface

There is a strong desire in many circles to eliminate Jesus from society completely or to discredit Him and/or present us with another Jesus which looks nothing the the Jesus of the Bible. Once He can be pushed out then the anti christ can deceive people more thoroughly. You see, Babylon is really modern day Iraq but it is also a mindset counter to Christianity. We must not embrace it. The world church is trying to dumb down the true message of the Bible and is very liberal. Christian in name only. Sickening !

Most people know that Christ's bride is going to be His "church". God reveals in the Bible that whenever any kind of woman is mentioned in prophecy He's referring to a church. The name you are referring to is "MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT "..... the "mother" of harlots and abominations of the earth. Because this woman is being referred to as a whore we know that it's a FALSE church. Unfaithful to Him. And it produced other false churches. Now looking in history we find only one set of circumstances that match this. We see the catholic (which means "universal") church and all the offspring that came from her. All the protestant (or protesting) churches or harlot daughters. If you know the catholic church, they have so many "mysteries". "The seven glorious mysteries" etc, etc, etc.. Mind you, God is the one pointing this out in the book of "REVELATION".

I do not need to concern myself with the hour or the signs. Those who love God with all their heart need not be concerned about the hour of the night in which the thief comes.
