change his/her food and start brushing his/her teeth more often. also watch what he/she eats when its outside

p.s. dont give it mints, if the breath of a dog smells bad, you should take it to a vet after trying to brush its teeth and changing its diet, mints will only cover up the smell and you need to be aware of it so that you no something is wrong

Offer it sugar free mints. My mom's chihuahua loves them & has rotten breath when she doesn't get a mint. Milkbones are also a good way to eliminate bad breath & tartar buildup, which can give a dog bad breath.

Take your dog to the vet for a dental. They will use anesthesia to put your dog to sleep and clean his/ her teeth thoroughly. Generally speaking they will use a sonic scaler to remove all the built up tarter and then polish her teeth to prevent more build up. In all likelyhood, he/she will be sent home with a prescription of clindamycin or other similar antibiotic for the gum disease it is probably suffering from. Then offer dental bones or greenies.

Imagine if you had never brushed your teeth.... what do you think your breath would be like?

my chihuahua had bad breath too and this is what i did. look at his teeth, back ones mainly, if they are really yellow then they are covered in plak and need to be cleaned by a vet. this helped mine a lot.

If you have been feeding it canned food without some sort of mechanical way of cleaning the food particles out of it's teeth then he probably has halitosis caused by this. Try cleaning his teeth if he will let you or giving a milk bone or something that is geared towards cleaning. In the meantime, a clothes-peg on your nose will suffice when you are near him (just kidding).

Brush his teeth. There's dog toothpaste for sale.

Or those kibble that reduces bad breath. I saw them somewhere at National Geographic

Get "Dental Care Liquid" from your vet.
Add to dogs water. My daughter has a shnoodle(Schnauzer/toy poodle) With horrible breath. That seems to work some.

Give him a bone or one of those special teeth cleaning chews...
his bad breath is probably just dirty teeth

he (or she) could also have a rotting tooth... so if the chews of raw bone doesn't work, or they don't eat it you may need to take the pup to the vet and get its teeth checked and perhaps cleaned.

Keep your face away from his face.

I've tried those doggie mints, Denta Bones, and all that crap with my dog. Now I just don't let him breathe on me, because none of that stuff works with an animal who licks his own *ss.
