Crossing into USA from Mexico (not at a boarder crossing)?

Question

I am a american citizen with papers, passport etc but now live in Mexico. I was wondering as to what would happen if i tried getting over the fence to get into the USA (not crossing at a boarder crossing) and got caught doing so by the boarder petrol. A bunch of my American buddies who live here fulltime as well were thinking of doing it (no plans of really doing it but just thinking about it) just for the heck of it and letting the news media in the USA know before we do it....................They cant send me back to Mexico and they cant just send to home to my American cause i dont have a I dont have a permenant residence in the USA either. I asked the American consulate here in Mexico and they didnt have a answer buecause it has never happened before. For a Mexcian or a illegal it would be either catch and release, get sent back across the boarder or get a free pain ride backj. Any ideas as to what the out come may be....................for a US Citizen.......

after spending some time on the border, i asked this same question to a INS agent, i was curious because I'm cheap and wanted to save money...apparently, you can be fined for trying to avoid paying the toll...sort of like tax evasion or something stupid...they won't deport you though, you are a citizen....

Its nice that Americans can live and enjoy MEXICO like they own the place , But you dont want them here ....In Mexico Noone gives you a hard time and you do anything you please so why are we such assh oles to them ?

There are Millions of Americans living in Mexico maybe they should take your property and kick your as s out !!
We would suffer terrible backlash and the cost of doing business would skyrocket, simple economics, No more tomato pickers ,no more restaurant workers No more Construction workers etc etc ..Truth is we are hypocrite's and we don't appreciate the great Job they do ,in spite of the wages we pay and the fact they sacrifice being separated from there children and love ones to be here and WORK.......

Some of the major chains (Chili's ) are already complaining Nursery's and tree farms are considering selling or closing, and this is just the beginning !

You see this is a POLITICAL problem , Republicans have had a strangle hold on the US for 15 years ,so much so the DEMOCRATS don't even have the power to Indite the criminals anymore . OK so what happens is we have a amnesty and we get 12 million NEW DEMOCRATS ? GIVING INDITEMENT POWER TO THE UNDERDOG PARTY , republicans will be indited and go to Jail for all there crimes

This is strickly POLITICAL , the Illigals have been here for 20 to 30 years unable to make a good life living without rights or privilage, or even with hope of reuniting there familys, while we enjoy the benefits of there misfortune. We have grown accostume to low prices controled inflation and we are hipocrites and very ungrateful . We even complain that the money they make is use to help and feed there kids back home .

Kids that are forced to live appart from there moms and dads because of FAILED imigration Policies that MAKE people iligal because if they could fill a FORM and Pay an Amount at a window , There would be ZERO iligals .

Why dont we Legalize them 3,000.00 a pop they will pay iligal income tax Just like us and the Goverment gets One LUMP $360,000,000,000.00 In revenue and we would have 12 million new Tax payers, Then you could Lower taxes....

We end iligals at the same time ....This would help rebuild American Vaneshishing unskilled labor force and we could bring American companys HOME , instead of making CHINA and India RICH ...

I don't think I'd recommend doing this, not even as a publicity stunt. I think you would be treated much harsher than an illegal immigrant if you were caught. They would probably do everything in their power to you, including a body search, believing you must be bringing drugs across, or else why would you be trying to cross at other than a regular border crossing. They would assume you have something to hide and would go from there, despite your video occurring. The video cameraman would not be allowed to follow you on into immigration hold cells and then there would be no evidence of what happens to you from then on. And even the fact that you were using this as a publicity stunt would probably make the border patrol angry and they would do everything allowable to you (if not more). Unless you think this could be your jump to fame for a "made-for-tv" movie or something, I wouldn't try it. Also, do you look Hispanic? Could be worse, yet. However, if you do decide to try this, please let us know here how it went!

Most likely the border patrol is going to go by appearances. That is someone climbing the fence is not likely to be a US Citizen or is up to no good purpose. My guess they will assume your passport is either stolen or forged and will hold you for the long, long, long time it may take to prove it is in fact yours and genuine. There are also US laws requiring those crossing the border to cross at recognized border crossings regardless of what documents they have or whether they have anything to declare to customs. The penalties include hefty jail time and large fines.

Don't worry, go to church and pray. God will lead you in the direction of how to get back into the US illegally, don't worry, many immigrants find themselves in the same predicament and after praying for a long time they realize that God is sending them in
the direction that is most easiest and quick. Keep praying, have some carne asada, drink a beer, relax, you only live once. Tjs a nice place to pray, and lots of good christians come here to buy blankets, jewelry, chicklets, and Tequila. Tequila is really cheap in your country, be thankful for that.

You would be charged with an illegal border crossing ,you would be detained while they ran a check on your criminal history,you would then either fined or held until you were brought before a judge for arraignment. The charge would likely lead to the suspension of your passport and visa.

Yeah make it short. I completely understand what you are saying despite the spelling errors. I have wondered about that too, in fact one day I shall cross the fence over "el serro" but I will have my US Passport. Hmm I wonder if I would be arrested? Not sure, but I will do it while recording it, just in case they beat the crap out of me or something and I wont do it alone.

It is a crime to not go through customs. So even if you are a citizen it is still a crime to come across the boarder anywhere but at a boarder crossing.

if you're a united states citizen they can get you for making an illegal border crossing and perhaps make you serve some time. but in the end, you'll be allowed back into the u.s. and free to go back home.
