I mean, maybe it's just my dentist's office, but all of the ladies that work on your teeth look like models. Way to make me feel good about myself while my teeth are being stared down.

I'm a dentist.
We hire good-looking hygienists because they are often the first face patients see for treatment.
If you owned a dental office, would you want some fat, ugly, woman with facial hair as a hygienist?

OK horn Dogs. on another note.
A new guy walks into my office and says. Oh man you are brutal. He then goes on to tell me that you are just like the hygienist at my old dentist office. She always cleaned too deep, scraped too much and left me sore. So I made sure i asked for the pretty hygienist, She was much more gentle, my gums weren't sore, and not so much scraping. I have seen her for the last 3 years. So I look at the X-rays and do the exam. He had subgingival plaque and calculus on almost every tooth. I think he would have been better off with the rough cleaning.
So I guess what you need to make sure of it's not beauty of the hygienist. It's how well she uses her hands on your teeth.

Because most dentists are men. Rich men at that. They want some eye candy around the office.

I'm a dental assistant and I know from personal experience that anytime we hire someone new the first question the doctor asks is "is she cute?"

Wow... I'm a hygienist...
I guess if all hygienists are pretty, then they must only accept pretty girls into hygiene school. Which, by the way, is very untrue.

i know what you are talking about. i agree they are always good looking. maybe being a hygenist is what all of the pretty girls do.
