I work in a store and I get a 15% discount on everything I buy. People I know are always asking me to buy them something with my discount and bring it home. I'm getting tired of it.
And I could lose my job.

It's not worth losing your job over. Don't do them the favor anymore.. and if you do, make sure you are compensated. You give them 15% off your store, then they should buy you lunch or something nice like that. That's the way me and my friends work things. They might get my back and pick up the tab one night, and I'll do the same thing for them another night. There's no expectations.. just doing it because that's what friendship is all about. Maybe some people are getting ruder.. but not everyone.. there are still a select few out there. Start looking, you'll find some good souls to help you out when you help them out.

Just tell them it's against company policy (even if it isn't).

If you're uncomfortable with lies, tell them exactly what you said here - that you think you could get fired for buying stuff for other people. If they persist and say your boss will never know, tell them you work at a STORE, for god's sake - you're not some rich CEO. You can't afford to keep spending your $$$ for others, even with that discount. Be polite, but firm. If they keep on trying to persuade you, offer to lend them money until they get back on their feet, because they are obviously in some kind of financial decline if they can't pay for the occasional store item. If all else fails, tell them it's really a hassle, and cut off the conversation.

I agree, people are getting more rude and lots of people like taking advatage of everyone else and it's WRONG! Stick up for yourself and tell them I can't always use my discount on you because I can lose my job and I do not want to risk that. If they're true friends they will understand and back off, if not. I think they're just using you and it's time to move on and make different friends. Good luck!!

Oh I know what you mean!! I work in a shop that makes boxes. Everyone I know thinks that its my own personal packaging supply house. If they are moving...they want boxes. If they want to ship something...they want boxes.

What I do is just hand them a catalog and tell them to find what they need and I will order it for them, then they can pay when they pick them up. You would be surprised at how quickly they dont need boxes anymore.

I would just hand them the store sales circular and tell them you would love seeing them come to the store and shop. Tell them that way you can be sure of having a job in the future.

Dont worry. If you offend someone because you wont let them mooch of of you, its OK. It will be great practice for the future when your rich and succesful. You will be surprised at all the people that will come crawling out of the woodwork asking you for a handout.

The stop doing it! Now if you are buying something for your family then it's not against company policy. Though if it's for friends, and they're paying you back, then you could get fired for it, or your discount taken away. Oh btw, if they're asking you in a rude manner than they must be assholes, in which if it were me I wouldn't do them a single goddamn favor.

Neither....Tell your frens nicely that you can help them buy things with discount but not too many things. Tell them your superior are suspicious of you and you could lose your job. Tell them also the limit of things you can buy for them eg only two items per month.

Tell them no or tell them to steal things from work for you, see how they like risking their job. Explain to them the risk and if they become rude stop talking to them they are just moochers and you don't need them. If you are in the store and they ask you and you say no, if they get mad at you ask security to escort their ghetto butts out.

You need to tell these people the same thing you just told all of us here on yahoo--that you could lose your job. Tell them you are not going to do it anymore for that purpose.

yes people are getting ruder but you need to stand up for yourself and say no. If they get mad they didn't like you in the first place, if they stop speaking to you, good riddance!!
