Do you mean when he was walking on Earth? If that is what you mean they probably talked more about him than wrote about him. They didnt have internet and many mediums (ie newpapers). I dont know if they had such a thing like newspapers then. I doubt it pretty much.
Later on a bunch a men wrote somethings about him which are the Gospels and letters in the Bible. The old testament tells about a man that would come. So there you go he was written about before the time he walked on Earth.

Most likely people didn't think that they needed to write down what they saw at the time. I'm sure that if you and group of people see something out of the ordinary, you guys wouldn't go home and write it down for people to see thousands of years later. But the disciples did write it down and those accounts are in the Bible.
Another thing would be that they wouldn't last or we just haven't found them yet.

well, mainly because they didnt have the kind of newspaper and media we have now, but quite soon after his ascension, the Gospels were written.

There probably was, but Constantine's Church probably destroyed anything that didn't fit with their theology.
