why not? career growth and subsequent opportunities lateral jumps into other industries depend entirely on your capabilities, personality and open mind.

if you are pressed on getting more money, get a better paying job and do social work as a volunteer until you feel you are on firmer ground.

If you are honest about being a social worker, then you should know that money doesn't really matter (it does, but not as much) as compared to job satisfaction. Being a social worker is a good thing for the society! I do wish you all the best and hope that you'll enjoy the job.

Yes, I will. It is about giving time and effort to help others. But I have to say that it is a well-paid job these days in Singapore, provided that you finish your degree well.

when you said career, its from the root word of "care".. when you like your job, when your happy on what your doing to this job, and your satisfied to it no matter how much it pay you.. it will be a meaningfull career...
besides social work is a unique job, just always remember there's a few people who wants that job, but the few persons have a big heart to lay their hands to those who need them...

The motto of being a social worker means to serve the community and society at large. I would certainly look for a social work job anywhere in the planet if my skills and knowledge can be of some help to the needy people. please inform.

The worst thing you can do, is have a job(good money, or not) and wake up each morning, thinking God get me through one more day, or "damn" I didn't die in my sleep. What ever job you have should be one where you are happy to be getting up to go, love being there, and hate the thought that you may not ever get to do it again.

a social worker is a job that doesn't pay well no matter where you are but you can't go into this job for that reason anyway, it's about the kids you save!! good luck!

Well..typically..those who enter social services aren't necessarily looking to make a lot of money. It just isn't where it's at. But..it does offer some prestige, and fulfillment.

you have to love to do this job and I have a passion for it so I would take the job but its not for everyone
