Cutters do this because it makes them forget what they are upset or hurting about. It is a serious mental disorder that they need counseling for. Please don't abandon her, but have a serious heart to heart talk with her and persuade her to get help thru counseling. It starts as superficial cutting, then leads to deeper cutting and other forms of self-destruction. Offer to go with her to talk to someone, preferably her parents or a trusted teacher at school (assuming you are both still in school). If not, then offer to go with her to a counseling appointment. She will feel safer with a trusted friend by her side. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Please don't abandon her, walk by her side.

Well i being a cutter myself know that when u do finally tell someone it is a cry for help. My friend that i told ended up telling her mother and it worked out in the long run i got the help i needed i didn't think it was betrayal i knew she was just trying to help and in telling her i actually helped myself. Cutting is very hard to stop they say its worse than an alcoholic trying to quit drinking. So yeah i would definitely tell someone that can do something about if. Good luck and just keep supporting her she needs friends cause i am sure she doesn't have many. And don't try to fuss at her to quit that just pisses us off.

Cutting and other acts of self punishment are indicative of Borderline Personality Disorder. This has various degrees of severity, but people with it do try to make people around them feel guilty for not being loyal enough. People with this disorder are actually very hostile (although the hostility is often turned inward). She needs help.

Be there for her, she has a diease and she needs you. But tell someone and get her help! If she is a serious cutter she will get the help, if it is just for attention, ignore it and don't make a big deal out of it because she will get bored and find something else.

You need to tell her parents. She is suffering from depression and repressed anger. It is very unlikely that she can stop without help.
It is a form of suicidal feelings. You wouldn't want that to happen so you have to get help for her.

And most of all this is a problem for professionals; please don't try to handle this by yourself. Is there someone that you both can trust i/e clergy or counselor? Does she belong to an outpatient program? Be a friend but seek professional help!

that is pretty serious and if she keeps doin it you might want to get her checked out or you
can talk to her about it and try to get her to stop cuz i once knew someone who did that to herself and i took the razor from her and she stopped and now i am proud of her so maybe you can do that.

talk to her.
try to get through to her.
tell her that every time she cuts herself, shes hurting you.
if shes stressed try to get her to try alternate ways of stress relief, (ex: those little squishy stress balls, or better yet join a gym or excercise class. excercise relieves stress & fights depression!)
