Bringing peace, love, and harmony to this world is something that many Atheists aim for. However, having this liberal mindset has its disadvantages. Even if we were in a country that was entirely free from law and lived in anarchy, this gives room for man to have evil mindsets and dangerous views against humanity. The more freedom a country has, the more domestic problems occur. For example, I had a friend that traveled to a predominately religious place in Europe. He said that he felt safer there than in his own country. Why? Becuase there is too much room in America for rapers, murderers, robbers, drug dealers and uses, and other such crimes. These actions are due to the "I can do anything that I want to" in America idea. The only way to truly transform a person's mind into peace, love, and harmony is through a religion that upholds these things. You can not convince an atheist murderer that something is immoral without trying to explain to him the everlasting love of Jesus Christ.

And sure maybe technically you can not do anything you want to in America, but that sure is what many people think!

They will definitely get it--hopefully while still in this life, but if not they gain full and true understanding at the Great White Throne Judgment. When they stand before God in all His glory, then every knee WILL bow and every tongue WILL confess that Jesus is Lord. And God will deal with each according to His Word. And then there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth but to no avail as they are cast into the outer darkness.

Aaaaand congrats you're a presupposing jackass! Atheism means no belief in god or gods. PERIOD. We are not all libertarian anarchists (though most of us are, for the most part including me). Now stfu and bring a real argument.

"The more freedom a country has, the more domestic problems occur. For example, I had a friend that traveled to a predominately religious place in Europe. Oooooo anecdotal evidence! Care to give any REAL evidence for your claim hun?

"These actions are due to the "I can do anything that I want to" in America idea."

Uh huh. Ever hear the phrase "Correlation does not equal causation"? It applies here.

"The only way to truly transform a person's mind into peace, love, and harmony is through a religion that upholds these things"

Oh like Christ-insanity? Have you ever even READ the bible?!?! It is the most horrifyingly bad source of moral guidelines I have ever seen! Also, brainwashing with innane unprovable beliefs is not a way to instill morals upon a society. Giving up of a society's critical faculties is NOT a good thing for ANYONE.

"You can not convince an atheist murderer that something is immoral without trying to explain to him the everlasting love of Jesus Christ."

HA! **** you. Morality does NOT come from religion, despite what your priest may tell you. Morals come from social interaction and a genetically ingrained sense of empathy. Get off the high horse and stop generalizing. Oh and next time, bring up a valid argument, k pumpkin?

"These actions are due to the "I can do anything that I want to" in America idea."

That's an unrealistic idea though because you can't do anything you want to do in America, you can do anything you want as long as it does not violate the constitution!

"The more freedom a country has, the more domestic problems occur."

Do you have any evidence to back up that statement? Even if that is true, more people have been killed in the name of god than any other, so religion obviously isn't the answer to ridding the world of evil and bringing peace. Also, are you admitting that religion takes away people's freedoms?

"The only way to truly transform a person's mind into peace, love, and harmony is through a religion that upholds these things."

Wrong. Brainwashing is not the way to stop people from doing evil things, education is.

So I ask you, when will you "get it"?

Hmmm... your argument has flaws.

1) America is a big country, and the only reason people do bad things is because there are so many so it seems that we have a bigger crime rate. Also, a lot of the bad things are out in the open because of the right of free press. Newspapers know people want to hear about violence, so that's what they give us, and that's also why we think that America has more crime.

2) Other countries contain legal prostitution, genocide, and political parties for pedophiles. Notice that no one ever smuggles themselves OUT of America?

3) You sound as if you want to make a country based entirely on Christianity. This would cause havoc. "Heathens" would often be harrassed and treated with violence, women would have limited rights, and Church and State would not be seperate, causing corruption.

4) Saying that religion is pure is never true, for any religion. Radical Islams are bombing people, and Catholic priests are raping small boys. There is always corruption, no matter what.

5) It is very possible to explain to an atheist murderer that what he did was wrong. It is not his right to take someone's life and destroy the lives of others, like family members. It is not someone's right to cause panic and stalk the streets like an animal. People like that are the one's who rest on the thin line of humane and barbaric.

6) Lastly, you friend felt more comfortable because he went to a place where everyone was of the same religion, therefore he could relate to the people. For all he knows someone was being raped in an alley nearby.

When will you Christians get it. Not everything in the world can be upheld using faith. If sustaining a belief makes a person happy that by all means indulge. However I would dare say you are being extremely presumptuous, if not entirely ignorant of anything outside your own precious religious ideals. You sir are zealot of the worst kind. You blindly make the assumption that just because someone does not believe in a supreme being, that they think anarchy can chaos should rule the world.

Atheists simply do not believe in a God, does this mean they are all murders and rapists? I think not. They are outstanding members of the community and everyday LAW ABIDING citizens. By posting this statement you state that unless a person believes in YOUR Jesus Christ, that they are a sinner and damned to they fiery bowls of your hell, and that the alone are causing the downfall of American society.

Lets reverse the tables shall we. I could say.. Oh look at all those catholic priests molesting small boys. Those Christians are all horrible child molesters". However, being an educated person, I understand that this is simply one or two people out of millions. I will not blindly make assumptions regarding the entire religious base from these few small instances.

So, Mr Zealot, When will the Christians get it.

I'm afraid that you're a cult leader!
Or maybe you're just a cult manager or helper or whatever, but cult is showing through every paragraph in this question!
No one should be controled, EVER. The end.
The problems with people killing and such came after the government started raping them of their freedom.
Not such a free country, full of rapers, and supprisingly, they're not the ones the government is trying to control. They ARE the government.

You obviously have not travelled much as you will see that Europe is much more secular than the US.

You think that compassion and respect for law and kindness and the desire not to harm others are not inherent in man. You are a sad, sad person, as you claim to have faith in supernatural beings and powers, but do not have faith in the goodwill of your fellow human beings.

With or without God, people are generally caring and compassionate. Liberals even more so. That's why we want to help the poor and ensure that the government does not gain control over personal decisions of faith and love and life and death. Liberals welcome free speech. Those who oppose liberalism surpress and censor speech.

Your view on Athiesm shows a remarkable lack of understanding on philosophy and the human condition. You sadly state that the only way to truly transform a person's mind to peace, love and harmony is through belief in supernatural powers.

You think that poeple must live their lives in fear of endless humiliating torture by red-faced horned characters in order to avoid harming others.

You think that people should perform good deeds, not for the selfless benefit of others, but always with the greedy and self-serving goal of achieve a god-like omnicience and immortality.

The athiests already get it, too bad you don't!

As far as i know murders, drug dealers and any type of criminal can come from any walk of life, religious or not. Some religious leaders (Pastors, Priest etc) have committed some of the most hideous crimes e.g paedophilia. What part did religion play in stopping this type of behavior. None at all because if it could stop it, it would never have happened.

Yeah but what do you do with a religious murderer? Religion has been the cause of many wars, so if there was no religion then it would be better, people can be taught peace, love and harmony without a load of bible kak.

I think the idea of being Atheist is that you don't get it. Why are all these idiots going around teaching morality, and doing the opposite? Atheist are just mad at all the closed minded "Christians" using God as an excuse to propagate war and hatred. Atheist have an anything but, attitude. They usually move on to more educated views.

I think that's the disadvantage of living in a permissive society. In most of Asia, for example, religion isn't just a Sunday "thing" you do, it's a 7-days-a-week system of ethics that define a way of life.

I don't think we should judge atheists here. I don't know much about them--their values, their system of ethics (or lack thereof??--I don't really know). And I don't understand why some of them here appear bitter (at least, to me) when they post questions/answers that poke fun at religion and believers. But I think they, too, have much to complain about because they, too, as you say, aim for peace, love and harmony in this world.

I have atheist friends and they don't like talking about religion or their belief system. But we're ok with one another; they're very humane and passionate about their interests, so I think, we're not so different from one another after all.

As of now, I don't think it's wise to force beliefs on others simply because it doesn't really help at all--it only makes things worse. Suffice to say, there are Christians who are not really exemplars of Christian ideals and values, just as much as there are atheists who are entirely devoid of them. Peace.
