According to 1 Timothy 2:11-15

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

To the ones who is getting all offended. Woman can and should be teachers according to the bible. But to Lead the church as a pastor or preacher is where it says it's wrong in the bible. If a pastor believes in the KJV of the bible and is a female then they don't believe in Gods word. So how is that Christian I wonder. I am just asking a question because I never knew that was not right until Church Sunday showed me where it was in the bible. Not that a woman shouldn't or can't teach or can't inform people of Jesus but to Preach in the church is the question. And my writing is not just something I made up. The writing in my question is literally verses from the bible. King James Version. Thanks again....

To the one who acted as if I say God was male or female I don't see where I put that at all but I know God isn't male or female and I know that God is a spirit. I am not saying woman can't be religious or spiritual either. Like the one said Men and women are different we are both important but different. As well as throwing stones at people etc... Sometimes the punishments in the bible would be more effective law than alot of the law we have today. Just because we live in a different time doesn't mean the bible all of a sudden should change to meet our lifestyles. We should live by the bible the best we can. It's an instruction book to life and inspiring reading. And truth all can inturpret it differently. But the ones who says that it's right to preach in church as a woman isn't commenting on what the bible says... Why is that? God Bless you all I was just curious

A woman could never meet the qualification for a bishop. They can give out the gospel but they don't qualify for a pastor. A man. 1 Timothy 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. The Husband of one wife. 1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; His house well. 1 Timothy 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
The verse you used in 1 Corinthians 14: 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. Is talking about speaking in tongues since the context is tongues.

It is interesting that women shouldn't be allowed to preach since there were a lot of women prophets in the Bible. There was a prophetess who lead men into a victory in one of them. In all four gospels, women actually proclaim the resurrected christ to the disciples and didn't that samaritian woman go and tell her whole village about who she met at the well. As for Paul, in First Corinthians 11:10 Saying that this woman must have a covering on their head to be a sign of authority and yet goes on to say in first Corinthians 14: 36- 37 right after he writes that women should be keep silent in church yet who were the first people to receive the gospel were they the disciples were males or the women were at the tomb?

Women are viewed very highly in the Bible. They have many privileges. However the privilege and RESPONSIBILITY of preaching in the congregation (church) was given to men.

That does not mean that women can not preach. Of course they can and SHOULD in a public way. The 1st century Christians preached form house to house and wherever people gathered. Women can have a mighyt share in this work of preaching the good news of Gods Kingdom before the end comes.

Of course women should be able to preach the word of God. Women are just as spiritual (if not more so) than men and feel the love of God within themselves as well. God is within each and everyone of us and gender makes no difference. By the way, God is NOT A MAN! God is the genderless energy form that is all of life. God is all-loving and does not love anyone of us more than another.

I am a spiritual being, presently living a human incarnation.

Of course women should preach! I'm sorry, but when the Bible was written, there was a lot of bad feelings towards women. Now that it has been proven women are capable of many things and are treated equal, women's rights should extend towards every aspect of life.

I don't mean to sound like some annoying and pissed off feminist freak (not insulting feminists) but I hate to see discrimination in such powerful things like religion. Women are just as capable as men to lead sermons. Maybe it is not an equal rights issue, but it comes dangeriously close.

My Faith does not have Preachers or Priests or any one person who is more qualified or "allowed" to spread the Word of God. We believe that the individual is responsible for his/her own spiritual growth. With that said, I view the achievement of equality between the sexes and the full participation of women in every field of human endeavor as an essential prerequisite to peace and human progress.
Inequality between the sexes retards not only the advancement of women, but also the progress of civilization itself.

The Baha’i Writings state:

As long as women are prevented from attaining their highest possibilities, solong will men be unable to achieve the greatness which might be theirs.

My religion is Baha'i

Absolutely yes. Your writing above is just another example of how women have been squashed for an eternity. They bear the children, raise them, tend the family, yet are not considered wise or good enough to teach? Phooey on the silly parts of the bible...anyone who swallows all of this junk as 'God's Word' needs to open their eyes and see who wrote all this junk...men who were looking for a handout. Men who want to be king of the hill.

I suppose you are correct approximately that. There are plenty of guys in the market who're already well and form-hearted and it could be fine to listen to them being motivated as household leaders as a substitute of lectured. I are aware of it's real that ladies can do a fine process of elevating a household despite the fact that there is no guy concerned, however that is no longer the excellent and guys will have to be praised for his or her position as real guys in a household. By the best way, a well publication that still brings that factor throughout is Bringing Up Boys by way of James Dobson. Check it out when you've got the risk!

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters (Women) shall prophesy... (fortell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office),... and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.....all meanings taken out of Strong's dictionary..... KJV Bible. This should answer your question. I am a Christian

Both your quotes are attributed to Paul, so these quotes suggest that Paul was a misogynist. Nothing wrong with being misogynist, it was common at that time and place in world history.

The Bible suggests that many women may have held important leadership posts in the early churches. And consider this quote (yeah, it's the Bible, you can find quotes to support most any position):

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28)

We don't favor Jews over Greeks for leading and teaching positions in our churches, do we? We don't favor free persons over slaves, do we? Then we shouldn't favor men over women either, for all are ONE in Christ.
