A Psychotherapist is someone generally with a MA degree in Psychology, sometimes a BA, and they are counselors/ therapists and specialize in different forms of "counseling". A Psychologist has a little more schooling than a regular therapist and he/she can also give counseling sessions. A Psychiatrist is a Doctor.........an MD in Psych, they prescribe medications for Psychological issues. Hope I have been of some help. Thanks! :o)

All three can and do often do "talk therapy" or counseling.
In addition Psychiatrists can prescribe medications, perform ECT [electric shock therapy] and are Md's.
Psychologists are PHD's and often are trained to do testing. They are also often interested in research. Most psychologists that I know are behaviorists, but there are a number of different lines of thought.
Psychotherapists can be clinical social workers with a masters degree; Masters level counselors with decrees in education/counseling, psychology or other areas that are similar. Most are going to have a focus on therapy and do not duplicate what the psychiatrist and psychologist do other than the "talk therapy".
Large hospitals and clinics are likely to have all three types of professionals. Smaller areas may be served by one or two of them. Anymore you will find a lot of primary care providers prescribing antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs [both of which fall under the role of the psychiatrist]
I hope all that helps

I would tell you, but I'd have to charge you $110.00 an hour to do so.
Pshychiatrists can prescribe drugs.
The other two either get to talk about it, or get you to talk about it, then the recommend you to a pshychiatrist so they can all charge you 110 bucks for the same hour.
