Year round school is a GREAT idea. The students could go 10 weeks in and 3 weeks out. It would allow for students who fall behind to go an extra week or two to catch up with the others without failing a semester or grade. They could have 3 weeks off during December (covers Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa), 3 weeks off in the Spring, 3 weeks off in the Summer, and 3 weeks off in the early Autumn. The other traditional holidays could also be fit into the time allotted and still allow Federal guidelines about the number of days required to be met. It would also make it possible to do away with the birthday cut-offs.

I know when I was a child, I thought as a child, and I love summer vacation. Almost could not wait till the last minute of school so I could begin my summer. Of course, being raised on a farm, I had plenty of chores to do before I could go fishing or riding my bicycle or climbing trees or chasing rabbits or driving the tractor or playing with my friends or petting the animals of the farm or building a fort out of old scrap metal and tin or going hunting or going target shooting or going to visit my relatives that lived on the same hill as my family did or just sitting down to a good ole Frosty Root Beer in the front yard and watching the grass grow or riding my horse or just spending time with my horse. I did most of these items by myself, yet I was not alone. Because I had a Friend that was closer than a brother. And He was my Protector, in Him I put my trust.

i used to go to a year round school. the long breaks during the year were nice, though not great because if you have friends who go to normal school, they are in school a week before you go, then you cant hang out with them. also, by the time summer comes, and everyone else is out, you get summer fever and the extra month is unbearable. i like traditional school better.
i like summer because high school is depressing and sucks. i like being carefree and enjoying my childhood because i know that after these 12 years are over, i'm going to be thrown into an adult world, with all responsibilities in tow. Plus, after 10 months, my brain needs a break.

I think it would be great. I hate to hear about children being left at home by themselves so maybe year around school would help cut down on that or at least keep them from having to stay home by themselves for a little more than 2 months straight just a few weeks at a time.

Year round school is a great idea. It helps to reduce crowding in the schools. It helps to reduce crowding at the places you go on vaction. It reduces the boredom time in the Summer.

well, i guess summer is boring, but having a year round school might mean getting breaks different from some of your other friends. it also means that you can't get a long ( 2months ) vacation.
year round -
good:
see friends often
breaks aren't long, so you don't get bored
bad:
no long vacation
breaks might be different from those of other friends
summer break-
good:
long vacation
might live close to your friends so you can hang out
bad:
get bored easily
don't get to see friends (unless you live close to them)
