Its true. If you do not dicipline you kid you will have a spoiled brat. The rod (spanking) is good for some kids, some respond best to other dicipline. You should know what works on your kid.

Dicipline should be painfull though no matter if that pain is from being spanked of from having you playstation smashed and throwen away.

Just do something about your brats, they will not just grow out of it.

Very true. That same book goes on to say that "...the man who spares the rod hates his child..." I don't believe that spanking is the best solution for every discipline issue. I spanked my kids to save their lives (open rebellion, dangerous disobedient behavior etc...). I never did it when I was angry, and I never injured them. I would rather they feel the sting of a swat from me when young than the pain of a serious infraction in society when older.

Absolutely true..........to a certain extent. You don't have to spoil a child, but you should always spare the rod.

Spanking is ILLEGAL and HATEFUL. By the way, spare the rod does NOT mean harm/spank your child. That is a complete misinterpretation. See www.askdrsears.com regarding discipline and spanking. Every single study has shown that hitting kids teaches them to hit and makes their behavior worse. Children behave as well as they are treated. If you are harming your child, please get help immediately.

We 'spoil' our children...but they are given limits. We don't just let them do or get whatever they want! I love them and want them to have a good life.. I want them to be happy and loved! Spoiling amoung hugs and kisses lets a child know that they are loved.. But so does having limits.

This is 100% true. This is my motto. My children are always complimented on their behavior. They have to save their allowences and EARN everything they have. We do not buy or give in just because they want something.
