It depends in your definition of "god". I certainly consider myself agnostic when it comes to deism, you know, the kind of god that Spinoza and Einstein talked about, in such case, all I can say is "I don't know", that's a god that doesn't care and that doesn't even have to be a "conscious" being. Certainly this is not the god that the bible talks about.
Now, the god(s) that are supposed to intervene in an everyday basis, including the bible one, we should have undeniable proof he/she/them exists, undeniable for everyone (he's omnipotent, you know). An omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent god who's even in our hearts, shouldn't it be more evident he exists to everyone? I was indoctrinated with the christian god, I believed and I was sure he existed for some years, yet I never found any evidence that such god exists, that omnipresent, omnipotent and merciful god wasn't capable to prove me he exists, the god that is everywhere doesn't seem to be anywhere, the conclusion is, there is no such god, that's my honest conclusion based in what I know and feel and not in what people say or questionable logics.
I've used an Isaac Asimov quote before in YA, I like it a lot since it explains my atheism very well:
"I am an atheist, out and out. It took me a long time to say it. I've been an atheist for years and years, but somehow I felt it was intellectually unrespectable to say one was an atheist, because it assumed knowledge that one didn't have. Somehow, it was better to say one was a humanist or an agnostic. I finally decided that I'm a creature of emotion as well as of reason. Emotionally, I am an atheist. I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect he doesn't that I don't want to waste my time." - Isaac Asimov, Free Inquiry (Spring 1982)

Here's the thing...
I don't BELIEVE in a god. I don't know that there is no god, just like you don't know that there is a god. I'm not going to get into trying to prove that there isn't a god since I know I can't and I'm not going to bring in things like the big bang, evolution and fossils because I don't know much about those things.
You are right, there is so much out there that we don't know and will never understand in our lifetime. I am only going to worry about the stuff we do know.
Like the hippie man said, lots of love.

science has taught me that i must be able to prove something in order for it to become a fact
since i cant prove when i die nothing happens i must accept the possibility that there will be something that will happen
and hence god is a possibility
also i ask what caused the first existence of matter or energy in the universe, before the big bang,
and the laws of science as i know them tell me a photon or a quark can't just spring out of nowhere,
and so here i am forced to acknowledge things happen that the laws of science can not explain
so for me to be an atheist is intellectually bankrupt

The thing about arguing with an atheist is, us atheists have nothing to prove. If anything, it is the theist who must prove his point. Atheism is not the belief that there is no god, just a lack of belief in god.
Personally, I don't believe because nobody has ever given me a good reason or good proof. Since I don't say "I know for a fact that there is no god", I don't have to back up my statements. Since you say, "I know for a fact that there is a God," you would have to present evidence to give your claim merit.
The statement that sums up my position is, "I do not subscribe to any belief in higher powers."
Please email me if you wish to talk at length. I am the last atheist who will be hostile with you.

Spiritual atheist speaking. I am not going to say you are stupid or wrong. Only you can determine that for yourself and your Path.
I am not close-minded to the possibility that I *might* find my personal proof that "god" exists. I have yet to find that evidence that will prove "god" to my heart. For now, I cannot be honest with myself and say I am a theist. That would be lying to myself. If I am lying to myself, then I will be lying to others too.
I cannot prove NOR disprove "god" for anyone else. And I am not going to even attempt to. The "god" belief is a highly individualized decision, dependent on the person, the person's critieria for "proof", their feelings, their experiences. For now, I have found my personal proof that disproved "god", so ergo, I am atheist. :-)

I'm agnostic. I actually believe in creation. But I don't see any evidence of a caring god. I think we're a giant experiment
